I have never been a fan of New Year’s resolutions. This probably stems from my mistrust of “resolutions” (or at the very least, my conviction that I don’t need to change), but in light of my attempts to get over my poseurphobia, maybe I need to reevaluate. I’m still not comfortable with the idea of New Year’s resolutions (perhaps partially because I feel like a latecomer, but) mostly because I don’t put any stock in today being any more different from yesterday than yesterday was from the day before. Instead, I have for you a “resolution” that just so happens to coincide with today: I’ve made a Twitter account.
I’m trying to not make a huge deal about this, but it actually is a pretty outside-my-comfort-zone endeavor. I may or may not like actually tweeting, but I’m just going to give it a go and see what happens. I realize my lack of having a smartphone may diminish Twitter’s utility, but, you know, baby steps.
Anyway, if you want to follow me (or just surreptitiously read my tweets without making yourself known), you can find me at @d_baumgartner, not to be confused with @DrewBaumgartner (only tweet, sent almost a year ago to @OpieRadio: “unclepaulsboy.” On second thought, go ahead and confuse me with this guy.) Be warned: I may use Twitter inanely or annoyingly. If I’m violating social media ettiquette, please either let me know, or allow me to continue while you mock me behind my back.
Happy New Year!
